Pastor Jim has been the senior pastor of Candlestick Bible Church since 2016.  He was born in Havana and raised in Carol City, Florida after his parents had migrated from Cuba.  He was exposed to the Christian gospel in the church early in his life through his grandmother's influence and attending Northwest Baptist Church as a child.  He made a personal commitment to follow the Lord Jesus Christ as His Savior when he was 17 years old in the summer of 1983.

 

After his graduation from Miami-Dade Medical Campus (A.S. in Respiratory), he went on to serve with Word of Peace Ministries, Miami Bible Church, and Miramar Evangelical Free Church. He holds a Bachelor in Bible studies, a Master of Arts, and currently is a Ph.D. candidate. 

 

He has served as Ministry Leader and as an assistant Spanish Bible teacher in Word of Peace Ministries, as an Associate Pastor (Youth Pastor and Discipleship Director) with Primera Iglesia Bautista de West Hollywood, as Interim pulpit supply for Miami Bible Church, as Senior Pastor for Miramar Evangelical Free Church for 11years, and currently Senior Pastor of Candlestick Bible Church. He also holds a position as Adjunct Professor for South Florida Bible Church where he has taught since 2017. He has also held membership with the Evangelical Theological Society for 19 years. 

 

Jim and his wife, Idania, have been married for twenty nine years, and have five children.
