Lights, tinsel, cookies and decorations surround us at Christmas time. Our culture indulges in the material, the gifts and the experiences. Let us not forget that Jesus set aside all His "stuff" to begin His life on earth in humble manger in an otherwise unknown town outside Jerusalem. Despite His royalty and authority as Creator and Lord of the Universe, Jesus came to receive, but to give. He gave himself not to rescue His country from oppression, but to save all souls from eternal separation from Himself. Let us remember that He is the reason for Christmas, and for life itself.
